ABOUT MY WORK

Dreams exist in the space between meditation and creation. I record them.

There is no beginning, middle or end to a Dream I record, and looking at one should draw the Viewer deeper and deeper into it, creating a pattern of eye moment that invokes a sense of calm and overall acceptance within the Viewer. The act of focused, continued viewing of a Dream becomes a meditation unto itself.

While there is no intended meaning to the Dreams that I record, Viewers cast wishes upon them and search within them to find their meaning within the work – often resulting in symbols, figures and relationships becoming clear to the Viewer not apparent when I recorded them.

No matter the medium – I record dreams through drawing, carving (linoleum/wood), painting or sculpture – my process is similar: I cleanse the energy of the space and tools; I sit with or meditate on a person, group of people or phrase; I record the ensuing Dream in totality, to completion, in one sitting. There is no erasing, correcting, or editing of a Dream. It is reflective of the energy presented through each pen line, cut, or brush stroke. Revisiting a Dream would be like recreating a memory.

With few exceptions, all Dreams are produced as singular works of art without print editions, as each piece is the record of one Dream, and it cannot be recreated.

Thank you for allowing me to share these Dreams with you.
